Decatur County Schedule Updates: January Board of Education Meeting and School Closure . Due to the potential threat of inclement weather, Decatur County Schools is taking precautionary measures: - The January Board of Education meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday, January 9th, will now occur on Thursday, January 16th. - School will be closed on Friday, January 10th due to the forecasted potential for snow. . Decatur County Schools Announcement: Decatur County Schools will resume normal operations on Wednesday, January 8, including all regularly scheduled after-school programs. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to welcoming everyone back.

Decatur County Schools Closure Update: Decatur County Schools have been working diligently to restore heat; however, one of our schools remains without at this time. As a result, all Decatur County Schools will be closed again on Tuesday, January 7. We will provide another update tomorrow regarding the progress and any further school closures. Attention Decatur County Schools Community: Schools will be closed on Monday, January 6th. Due to a heating malfunction at one of our schools, several classrooms are without adequate heat. Additionally, with high flu and illness rates in our community, all Decatur County Schools, including afterschool programs, will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 6th. Please note: All scheduled ballgames will still take place as planned. We will provide an update tomorrow regarding the heating situation. Thank you for your understanding and support. The Decatur County Board of Education will have a special called work session at 5:30 pm on Monday, January 6th at the Decatur County Board of Education.

Decaturville Elementary Extended School and LEAPS Programs The Decaturville Elementary Extended School and LEAPS programs wrapped up the first half of the year by making beautiful ornaments! These programs play an integral role in our school, providing students with engaging and creative learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Thank you Ms Dee and Mr Ruben! We are so proud of the hard work and creativity our students have shown. Stay tuned for more exciting projects in the new year!

*Christmas Parties/9 wk celebration 12/19/24 (visitors must sign in through office / each grade has a different time for class party). *No after school programs Dec. 20th - Jan. 2nd. *2nd semester starts for students on Friday, Jan. 3, 2025. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from DES!!

DES K thru 4 Christmas Prog @ 5:30 tonight. Doors open at 5:10. Each class has a designated meeting room. K & 1 will go first. Then, we will have a short intermission to allow for those who need to leave before we resume our program. Please stay til the end of the program to hear 2, 3, & 4 sing together!

DES Pre-K Christmas Prog will be 12/17/24 at 9:00. Each person must be scanned into the office and have a visitor tag in order to attend the program. Allow some extra time, especially if you have never scanned your license. Let your extended family & friends know the process . K-4th Christmas will be 12/17/24 @ 5:30.

In addition to being awarded a Level 5 school, we are thrilled to announce that Decaturville Elementary School has been recognized as a distinguished REWARD SCHOOL for the 2023-2024 school year! . To achieve Reward School status, a school must demonstrate high achievement, high growth scores, and low chronic absenteeism. This recognition highlights the dedication of our students, teachers, and support staff, as well as the support of our entire school community. It demonstrates that students in Decatur County can compete with the best across the state. . While we take pride in the outstanding performance of our tested grades, we also recognize the vital role our lower grades and support staff play in building a strong foundation for success. VETERANS DAY PROGRAM 🇺🇸 Decaturville Elementary recently held a heartfelt Veterans Day program to honor and show appreciation for our veterans. A special thanks goes out to the Scotts Hill American Legion Post 243 for their support and involvement, helping to make the event memorable for our students and veterans alike. Their dedication to honoring those who served greatly enriched our program.
