We are excited to introduce a new addition to our school community—Felix our therapy dog! Felix is a three-year-old, male Golden doodle. He is hypoallergenic, which means he has hair instead of fur so he will not bother people with dog allergies. He loves to be petted and is super calm and gentle.
Our therapy dog will provide emotional support, reduce stress, and enhance social-emotional learning for students and staff. Research shows that therapy animals can help improve focus, improve school attendance, reduce learner anxiety to improve learning outcomes, promote kindness, and create a calming atmosphere within schools. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Felix is in training and is getting certified. All interactions will be supervised by our counselor, Amanda Salas, to ensure safety and comfort for everyone. Participation is optional, and we will be mindful of any staff or student who does not wish to engage with Felix.
We look forward to the positive impact our therapy dog will have on our school community! If you have any questions or would like more information, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your support!
