Decatur County Middle School

Last fall Decatur County Middle School applied for a STEM Grant from the TVA in association with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network. We were awarded $3500.00 for our project: "Is Energy Made in the Shade?" We will use temperature probes, solar panels,  and graphic analysis to measure the efficiency of shade and home structure in cooling homes.  Students will build the most energy efficient house model in regards to cooling and then place solar panels for maximum efficiency. This project is just one of many that will use scientific tools and computers to give our students exposure to career possibilities in technology.
