Director of School Position

The Decatur County Board of Education is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Schools. This leadership role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of education in Decatur County by driving student achievement, supporting educators, and fostering strong community partnerships.

Qualifications Include:

  • A professional educator's license

  • A master’s degree in education (preference given to candidates with a doctorate degree)

  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in school administration

  • Such other qualifications as the Board deems desirable

Essential Functions:

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

  • General Administration: Overseeing the district’s daily operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.

  • Financial Management: Managing budgets, resources, and funding to support district goals.

  • Instructional Leadership: Guiding curriculum and instruction to improve student outcomes.

  • Personnel Administration: Leading recruitment, retention, and professional development of staff.

  • Community/Public Relations: Building strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration.

Terms of Employment:

  • The Director of Schools will serve in accordance with the terms of the contract established between the Board of Education and the candidate.

  • Salary is negotiable and will be determined by the Board of Education.
