Decatur County Schools are proud to welcome Mrs. Lori Turnbo. She has taken the 8th grade ELA position at Decatur County Middle School. Mrs. Turnbo decided on a career change at 50. She began teaching ELA at Whitthorne Middle School, and completed the Job-embedded teaching program with UT Southern.
Last year, Mrs. Turnbo married her husband, Dennis, and moved to Hardin County. She has two children, Chloe and Will, who graduated from college this past spring (Belmont/Ole Miss). She is also blessed with a stepson, Justin, and a wonderful grandson, Torious.
Mrs. Turnbo loves to travel. She and Dennis are currently trying to explore all the National Parks and have been to 17 states in the last year alone! (She is also planning a tour of Italy next May!) Mrs. Turnbo also loves photography and constantly seeks the perfect photo opportunity. She loves to learn new things, particularly about history and nature. Her kids say she is the biggest nerd they know!
When asked about her new assignment, Mrs. Turnbo stated she “loves teaching middle school and looks forward to working with Decatur County Middle School. I am so excited for the upcoming school year.” Well, Mrs. Lori, we’re ecstatic you’ve joined our team! Welcome aboard, our friend.
