Dr. King states his goal “is to help students succeed in their desired path. All paths are different, and I want to help them succeed in life regardless of whether they choose college, armed service, or the workforce.”

As Decatur County Schools announces the launch of our new Virtual Academy, we are thrilled to have Dr. King at the helm. This innovative program brings the excitement of another path of learning to our rural community, offering students unparalleled flexibility and access to a world-class education. With our Virtual Academy, students can tailor their learning experience to fit their unique needs and schedules. This initiative combines the best of online resources with personalized support and opens up new opportunities for academic growth in an alternative environment that meets specific student needs. Decatur County School System is confident Dr. King is the person to take the lead in this endeavor. Dr. King has the ability to build relationships and meet individual students’ academic needs in order to make Decatur County Virtual Academy a success!

Dr. King concludes “As educators, I think it is essential that we continue growing and learning ourselves. The Virtual Academy will be an opportunity for me to expand myself and find other ways to help the students of Decatur County. Not every student is built to succeed in a brick-and-mortar school. With the addition of DCVA, I hope we can connect with those students and help them in their educational journey.”

Dr. Scott King’s family consists of his wife, Dr. Lyndi King, and two children, Tayler, a Junior at RHS, and Cayden, a Sophomore at RHS. He enjoys spending time with family, playing guitar, grilling, and serving others in his free time.
