A Riverside High School alumni and recent graduate of UT Martin, Reed Keeton will begin his career at Parsons Elementary, teaching Science and Social Studies. For the past three years, Keeton has been an assistant coach to the JV team and an assistant coach to the Riverside High School boys' varsity basketball team. He states, “I am super excited to be in my hometown teaching and coaching. I love blue and gold and all of the traditions that come with it.” Josh Sinclair, Riverside boys' basketball coach, states, “Reed has been a tremendous asset to the RHS boys’ basketball program over the last few years. He is a driven individual who brings out the best in those around him. I am glad to see him staying home to continue helping coach and also take on this new role as a teacher in our school system.”
As Mr. Keeton begins his new role, he states, “I look forward to a great group of students and fellow teachers to work with. I am extremely excited to be at Parsons Elementary School. I want to learn as much as I can this year from my students and fellow teachers to be the best teacher I can possibly be.” Dr. Tammie Patterson, Director of Educational Studies at the University of Tennessee at Martin-Parsons Center, stated, “Reed’s enthusiasm for the profession and dedication to his student's growth is truly inspiring. He has the potential to positively impact the students of Decatur County.
Mr. Reed enjoys coaching basketball, spending time with family, and working outside in his free time. Reed has also been accepted into the Master’s Program at UTM.
Help us welcome Reed aboard as he begins his new journey. Decatur County Schools sees an abundance of potential in Reed. And we are proud he came home to make a difference and invest in the students of Decatur County.
