Decatur County is proud to announce that Jessica Barnes will teach 1st Grade at Parsons Elementary beginning in the 2024-25 school year. Barnes received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Performance from UT Martin and a Master of Education from MTSU. Mrs. Jessica has worked at PES as a 4th-grade teacher’s assistant and in the library for the past two years.

Barnes stated, “I am so excited to be one of the first-grade teachers at Parsons Elementary School this upcoming school year and look forward to having my own classroom and establishing a safe learning environment for my students.” Parsons Elementary veteran teacher Mrs. Kristy Pruett looks forward to the addition to her 1st-grade cohort. Mrs. Kristy said, “We are so excited for her to join our team, and we anticipate an awesome and successful year!”

Mrs. Jessica is married to Bryan Barnes. They have two children: Harris, who will be entering middle school, and Linley, who will be a first grader at PES. She enjoys reading, gardening, and watching her children play sports for fun! Anticipating the upcoming school year, Mrs. Jessica states she is “especially looking forward to seeing growth and development from each student entering the classroom. I can’t wait to meet each student and create our classroom family!”

Decatur County School System is thrilled to announce that Mrs. Jessica Barnes has joined our teaching faculty. Since joining our system as an assistant, Mrs. Jessica has already shown remarkable dedication and insight. Her experience, dedication, and passion for students and education make her a tremendous asset.
