Unhoused Education

What does it mean to be Homeless?

IF THE RESIDENCE IS NOT FIXED, REGULAR, AND ADEQUATE, IT IS CONSIDERED AN UNHOUSED SITUATION.

Decatur County Schools is committed to helping every student have a positive educational experience. For families that may be in transitional living situations, the district can assist in many areas, including the following:

  • school enrollment

  • school-related issues, concerns, or questions

  • tutoring through after-school programs

  • clothing and school supply needs

  • obtaining required school records, including birth certificates and immunization records

If you are...

> Sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason

> Living in a motel, hotel, trailer park, or campground due to the lack of alternative adequate accommodations

> Living in an emergency or transitional shelter

> Awaiting foster care placement

> Living in a car, park, public space, abandoned building, substandard housing, or similar setting

We are here to help!
